Feature Photo — Ugandan Countryside Near Kabale, Uganda
During a recent assignment in Uganda, Robyn had the opportunity to travel to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to see mountain gorillas. The drive from Kampala took about 10 hours through a varied and stunning landscape.
The use of terraced fields in the area dates back to pre-colonial times. On the steep slopes, strips of uncleared land protect the plots of cultivated land, holding in nutrients while decreasing erosion and surface runoff.
